Wheat planting commences in earnest
Our wheat planting has commenced in earnest. These pictures clearly show the extent of our Biological Farming activity where mulch cover is all important. Sadly we have had some problems with arson where people from Lesotho have been burning off our mulch, which is very disturbing. We are not currently sure how to handle that.
To the uninitiated the conditions look entirely wrong, in fact they are nearly perfect in terms of fertility, moisture, lack of compaction, and protection of the soil.
Below are some pictures of the planters and of the planted rows.
These pictures show what the rows look like where the Ausplow has planted.
You will see that we do not have the same problem as we had last year with the rows closing up.
Below are pictures of the Tatu planter and the rows that the Tatu makes. You will see that it is identical to the rows of our JD 1780 planter. Both the planters work on the same principal.
Here are some pictures of the oats planted on the farm, the first three pictures are our own seed and the last to pictures are seed that we bought and that was planted later than our seed.
