Lime Spreading

To maintain our pH at the correct levels we spread lime every few years.  This year we have a major programme underway.

What is interesting about this year is the use of our Case model 480C TLB. 

This was purchased new by the current owners of Sandstone Estates in the late 70’s, early 80’s.  It has been maintained so well that it is almost as new.  Because our CAT TLB was busy on other work we couldn’t allocate a machine full-time to load lime, which was part of a 3-week programme.  We remembered that we had the Case TLB in the vintage collection and once again in typical Sandstone fashion we immediately put the TLB to work.  We love using our old equipment in genuine applications for which they were designed.  In fact, we are so proud of the performance of this machine after all these years that we have written to Case Corporation in the USA. 

The lime is spread using our specialised lime spreader (see photographs below) and immediately worked in by our 9400 Agrico tandem offset combination.
