Comment from a loyal supporter.

One of our loyal supporters who keeps up-to-date with our activities via our web site, Bernard Dodd, a retired farmer, sent us the following comments after reading about our new Equaliser planter. Bernard wrote:

A short while ago I mentioned Sandstone's new machine for sowing seed and commented on the difference to my days on the farm.

I do not know if it will interest any one, I went on my annual trek to Newark Vintage tractor show at week end and I took a photo of the exact set up I would have used, a Massey Harris combine drill and a Massey Ferguson 35 tractor though osccasionally a David Brown Cropmaster may have substituted the 35.

I have attached a photo together with a photo from the Sandstone site as comparison, not at lot but to a rather aged old timer I do love reminiscing and comparing the old ways with the new.

Take care,
Bernard Dodd

Sandstone 2012 with this, 200 acres a day

I would have used this in the 1960s, 200 acres a month.

Just a little bit of progress.

Coincidentally we had also been using one of our Massey Fergusons to plant maize using a Little Wonder planter.  This was just a small patch to grow groen mielies (corn on the cob) for the staff.
