Sandstone hosts Rugby & Netball Clinic – 23 March 2010
On 23 March 2010 Sandstone Estates hosted schoolboys & girls that attended a Rugby & Netball Clinic in Ficksburg. This is an annual event and 18 schools from all over the country meet each other for games between each other. It was the most colourful picture to view with all these children in their different sport uniforms.

Schools that attended the train ride at Sandstone Estates were:
1. Grey College Bloemfontein
2. Bloemfontein Laerskool
3. Onze Rust Bloemfontein
4. Ficksburg Primary
5. Empangeni Primary – Paul Pietersburg.
On arrival the schools were welcomed as they climbed off the busses. All gathered at the Hoekfontein Station accompanied by their team coaches.

The Kalahari steam locomotive came into the station and the children all got very excited as Gert Jubileus surprised them coming from a direction they didn't expected. One of the Netball coaches started phoning all her family on the train sharing this special moment with them as she just could not believe it.

Sandstone Estates received a special thanks at the Awards evening on Wednesday in the Sports room at the Ficksburg Primary School, thanking all staff for making this day possible and a dream come true for young and old. For most of these children this would have been their first and last steam train ride ever.
Teachers from Grey College and Bloemfontein Laerskool said that a special personal thank you would come Sandstone Estates way as soon as they arrive back in Bloemfontein. We already received a letter from Demore Sport, Martie Morey & Cheree Botha. Martie has just been asked to coach the South African U/19 Netball team. Everyone had an absolute ball and we could not stop answering questions about the farm.
