Agricultural report

The wheat harvest at Sandstone Estates is looking good. Regular rains since late Spring have ensured that the crop has received sufficient moisture which is always a problem in Southern Africa. We are expecting higher than average yields and the railway will play a pivotal part in the harvest. With more than 7,000 tons of wheat to deal with our transportation and storage capabilities will be stretched to the limit. We have been fortunate to acquire seven specialised Narrow Gauge grain trucks from the Port Elizabeth to Avontuur line. The first of these will arrive in the next week and then we will fast track their restoration so that they will be ready for the harvest in January.
