Another day at the factory Flugel
14 February 2008
Early in the day, Sir Colin despatched the last two of the five Toshiba 'Ea's. Quite some time ago, some of you will recall, we sent three north and now the last two have gone. As I said before, we were simply holding these on behalf of Tranz Rail, (as it was back then) and now all five, have all gone for service in Wellington. Colin had his trusty camera with him and recorded the exchange, which was carried out in the same manner as the despatch of the 'units', which we saw towards the end of last year. The next three photos are courtesy of Sir Colin...................
Here Colin has pushed the two 'Ea's up to the derail points, awaiting the locomotive to take them away. Main line to the right.
Here, Rachel has set the points and the 'Ea's are being hauled out of our line.
This may well be the last we see of these. However, it is proposed to ask if when they are done with them, we might have two back again. (Two because they are single ended cabs.) Thanks for the pictures Colin!
On my arrival......................
...............I found Danny doing some repair work on the containers we are roofing over. (Andy, a different look at your Castle Rock.)
Ray was doing his thing with line trimmers.
Walk inside and we see Keith setting the end of the roof cover on 'A222'.
Graham was manufacturing hardwood slats for the louvre windows. (How many hundred Graham?)
From out the front to round the back, Danny is cutting up old frames to make new ones for the container roof trusses. Well, beams actually.
Looks like the permanent way inspectors have been busy. There's a lot of this round roads 7 & 8.
