WN45 - Warm day again! Flugel - By Kerry Young - 24th May 2007

34th May 2007

Can't believe it. Another lovely day today. You have to wonder how long this can last. Let's not waste a moment of it................

01

Let's start with Sir Colin. Seen here pushing the two Toshiba 'Ea's onto the branch line. Why?
02

So the 'Unit' can be put over the pit to replace some switchgear covers. From here, it's like pulling a cork from a bottle. That's Bert hitching a ride to the signalbox. The Unit is going to the nearby loco sheds of Big Daddy to be assessed for returning it to service for a time, due to a delay in the arrival of new stock in Wellington.

03

A bit fuzzy to say the least, but there will be a number of recent readers who have not seen our 'Ed' Locomotive. This will give you an idea of the look of it.

04

Here's one you won't see every day of the week. A Vulcan and a unit side by side. Possibly the first time ever.

05

Underneath the unit we see the drive motor casing and the brush cover on the underside. The 'nose' or 'suspension' bearing housings are plain to see too.

06

During lunch time and I couldn't resist this one. Down the far end, Bert and Garth are trying to work out how to get the new microwave going. Only in a collection of older folks could this happen.

07

Lookee, lookee............... The class plate on A1177.

08

And the number plate. FR? Ferrymead Railway!

09

Graham and Keith fitting the roof ventilators.

10

Brian Frost has been tirelessly working in the cab of the 'F'. Things are coming together.

11

Once again, sorry about the focus. The rear light in place was what I wanted you to see.

12

I have no idea what this pole is for, but I'll bet someone tells me when they see this. It's a serious piece of wood!

13

Some of my handiwork. While the compressor is in bits, I cleaned up the outside and have begun undercoating.

Another wonderful weather week. Long may it continue! Cheers, 'K'.
