A short note from some visitors who enjoyed Sandstone, we are so pleased to receive such positive comments and we hope that all our visitors feel the same.
It seems that Santa has come early this year with the news that the R26 road from Bethlehem to Ficksburg is finally being repaired. The work being undertaken is resurfacing and not just filling the holes as in the past. The very bad section between Fouriesburg and Sandstone is being worked on. Our thanks to Ionia Cherry Farm for the initial information.

Recently we did a bit of detective work to track down all the videos of The Sandstone Steam Railway on YouTube. It’s not as easy as you may think as some of the titles do not always mention Sandstone and the YouTube search engine can miss them! Anyway we have catalogued 133 separate videos including three from Alan Middleditch he has just posted of the recent FarRail International Tour to Sandstone. We hope you enjoy watching these productions that capture the essence of The Sandstone Steam Railway.
Sandstone will be closed for visitors for Walking Tours of the Heritage Collection from Friday 15th December 2023 until Wednesday 10th January 2024.

We shall not be holding any events at Sandstone during 2024 but we remain open for day visitors and our self-catering accommodation and camp site will be available for all of 2024
After suffering a major gearbox failure the White M5 Armoured Personnel Carrier is now back in action.
Our last event for 2023 is now over and was a resounding success. We know those of our readers who joined us enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing you again. Please enjoy a photo maontage of the event from numerous contributors, both visitors and volunteers.
